Spoiled by God

I suppose that you could use the word blessed rather than spoiled. I chose spoiled because I feel that it better reflects how unworthy I am. I have been chatting with friends lately and this topic has repeatedly been discussed. I screw up and make mistakes all the time. The thing is, most of the time I have not had to suffer the full consequences of my actions. For example, I let an experiment stay up in the air for too long and almost completely lost it. The key word there is almost and it appears that everything is going to work out. That scenario is the story of my life. You could try to just explain these things as life lessons and completely omit God. For me personally, I think that would be committing a serious error because God has used these times to remind me of the fact that I do need Him and I can't do it all on my own. My life here on earth will never be perfect but my Savior is.

I also feel blessed in that my father made it through his medical issues and is still here with us today. I really do feel that every day with him is a gift from God. Add to that all of the wonderful people that share their lives with me and I am one lucky lady.

I have been thinking about these things as my birthday approaches. My birthday typically is a time where I focus on failed hopes, disappointments, and unreached expectations. I know that sounds horrible but I really don't like my birthday. According to a popular study, I will get over that in my 40's but I am not sure that I can wait that long. So my goal is to focus on my blessings and not things such as, umm, the fact that I am still in school.

I chatted with my dad about this post and he told me that I had to quit the whole hating my birthday thing. So, yeah birthday.
