Expectation and Anticipation

Do you remember the first day of school? You couldn't sleep the night before. You purchased lots of new clothes and picked out your outfit days in advance. The possibilities for the year were endless and expectations were high. The anticipation of seeing everyone and getting started was great! I miss those days where I experienced pure joy like only a child can. My favorite bible story as a child was when Jesus blessed the little children in Mark 10 (Mat. 19 and Luke 18). For those of you who know me well I doubt that you will find that surprising.

I find myself in a similar state of anticipation and expectation. However, the years have made me quite cynical and I now fear that I am setting myself up for disappointment. At those times I find myself missing the ease of childhood. I started thinking about that when 1 Cor. 13:11-12 came to mind. If I had not matured in Christ then I would also not have gained insights into His character and learned more about who He is. I would be less aware of His glory.

New personal goal: Worship with the innocence that I had as a child while praising Him for the characteristics that He has revealed through scripture and meditation. I hope that makes sense.
