I can be thankful too!

I am thankful that I was allowed to borrow Things 1-4 for the night. We had a good time making our own pizzas and cookies. I am also thankful that I am going to see my family soon.

The big thanks for the week: Dad is off the ventilator. He got off it today. He is one step towards recovery. Yeah!!!

I am also thankful that the Lord continues to provide for us so abundantly in so many ways. I have been chatting with friends lately and we have all been going through various struggles. As we are starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel there has been one consistent result. As we look back, we see how God has brought us through. We know that growth is a good thing but I think we are all glad to see this year come to an end.

I pray that this Christmas season finds you experiencing a deeper fellowship with the Lord.

I am qualified!

I passed my qualifying exam today. It is kind of anticlimactic. On the form, the word they use to indicate that you passed is "Satisfactory". I am tired and it is over.

Woohoo!

Bold Request

I have a bold prayer request. I have a final tomorrow morning and my qualifying exam is on Thursday. I am having a hard time focusing during my study time. There are lots of shiny objects around during the holidays and they easily distract me. I just need to get through Thursday afternoon and then I can totally fall apart.

P.S. My dad had surgery. It is a long story but he is not getting a transplant because he no longer qualifies. He had a 12 hour surgery to install a pump in his left ventricle. He is still on assisted breathing and the next steps are to get him off that and avoid infection. Praise God that he made it through the surgery.

Merry Christmas?

I got a little chuckle this morning during church. I didn't look at the sermon title until after I sat down because for quite a while we have been studying Romans. I remembered that we were starting our Advent season sermons so I decided to check. It was titled Apocalyptic Christmas. When you think Christmas, you think Revelations, right? I don't want to give the wrong impression. I really enjoy studying Revelations and after the sermon today I decided what my Christmas break reading list would look like. I just wasn't expecting that glimpse of the birth of Christ.

Happy Birthday Dad

Today is my dad's birthday. Friday he was moved to a hospital with a transplant unit for further assessment of his condition. That hospital gave him a birthday cake which I thought was pretty sweet. He lost five liters of fluid last night but now his potassium level is pretty low. Tomorrow is a big day as they look at his heart and see if his elevated pulse is due to low potassium levels. He made it to his birthday.
