Thankful Thursday A Little Early

It has been rough lately so I decided that I needed to do a "Thankful Thursday" ASAP. Here it goes. I am thankful that my friends are letting me hang out with them for Spring Break. I am thankful that my undergrads have returned this semester. I have such high hopes for what we will achieve. I am thankful that my father is continually improving. There is hope that he will get out of the hospital this week and move to a hospice facility for rehab. I think that will really boost his spirits.

I am thankful for our new work digs. They are quite nice minus all the boxes and confusion. Did I mention that I am thankful for returning undergrads?

I am thankful that even when I am funky, God is so good. He makes Himself obvious through the blah. Yes, I might be in a funk but He still reaches out and lets me feel His presence. It is times like these that it becomes painfully obvious that there really is nothing that I can do to deserve or earn salvation.

I am also thankful for friends who help me find exotic spices. Hopefully, the students will also be thankful this weekend.

Suggestions Please

I have booked my tickets for break. Philadelphia and New York City here I come. I will have two days in Philly and one day in the Big Apple. Any suggestions? I have been to Philly before and done the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.

Go Ahead and Make Fun of Me

People like to give me a hard time when I try and be careful about the food that I serve others or consume with others.

Lecture Tomorrow

I have to lecture to about 700 students tomorrow. The topic is Food Evolution Through the Ages. In chemistry, I lectured to about 300 students and that was a little interesting. This is for people outside the department and they can use this class to fulfill their physical sciences requirement. I am trying to think of ways to make the lecture more interesting since this is the first real lecture they will be getting for the class. Last period was syllabus and introduction. I don't want half the class to drop after they listen to my dry lecture.

I am not usually nervous but for this I am a bit nervous.

Dad Update

Dad is still in the hospital but he is walking short distances. He still can't stand on his own and he has a hard time swallowing food BUT he is getting better. If things keep going as planned then he might be out of there next week. Also, his attitude is improving. He is anxious but he is learning to trust more in the Lord. They put some scriptures at the foot of his hospital bed so that he could read them when he starts to get anxious. Also, there have been some great people at the hospital helping him out.
Please continue to pray for my stepmom. She has been spending all day and night at the hospital. She is exhausted and has a lot of things on her plate right now.
